Product Description

A look back at the historic winter storm that hit the Northeastern United States in January 1966. Using stories told by those who lived through the blizzard, the book covers topics such as road conditions, school and business closings, food shortages, and the use of the largely-known snowmobile as a rescue vehicle.

Great book about a historic event that happened in an area that I have lived in my entire life. I was too young to recall this historic snow event. However, I am wondering if I opened a Pandora's Box by purchasing this book because as of this writing, our 2017/2018 winter weather and snowfall has been one of the worst we have seen in years in Oswego County in the state of New York. Even though we are used to this type of weather in this area and all of the obstacles that come along with living in a "snow belt" region, it's been a rough season. We are all ready to flee and give up because the shoveling takes a toll on the body, mind, and spirit.
