Product Description

Pain is experienced by everyone at some point in their life. Some people experience pain that hangs around far longer than it should. This books tells the stories of people who have experienced persistent pain and recovered from it. It also gives some practical, evidence based advice on how to embrace what modern science tells us about pain in order to recover. No quick fixes or magic silver bullets, just sensible advice that is echoed by the lived experiences in the stories of the Pain Heroes.

Disclaimer: I personally know the author, and have worked alongside her in her teaching company 'Beyond Mechanical Pain'. I consider her a colleague, a teacher, a leader and a friend. This book is written by people in pain, for people in pain. The author has collated the tales of real life patients who have had their lives turned upside by chronic pain, and then managed to not only find light at the end of the tunnel, but emerge from that tunnel into the daylight, to get their lives back.It isnt about quick fixes (there are none), nor is it about magic techniques, but rather how a principle based approach, grounded in modern pain science research can help a diverse rsnge of people with one thing in common, chronic pain.It then ends with some practical tips on how to apply this information to your life, if you also suffer from chronic pain. Is it a cure? No. What it is, is a slither of light, peaking in through the end of the tunnel.I would recommend this book not only to people living with chronic pain, but their partners/family members and clinicians who work with people in pain alike.
