I have been a fan of Bernadette's since reading Hans Millerman (in Afrikaans!) as a little boy in the early 1970s. It is a beautiful story about friendship, and that the friend we search for, is sometimes not out there where we go search for them. It is one of the stories in this book, which I've bought several times as gifts for grand-children and friends.I "met" her electronically about 20 years ago when I was looking for Hans Millerman for my (then baby) son, but had difficulty finding it -- Hans Millerman was published only under her first name, and I didn't know her last. We've been corresponding ever since, and I have a lot of her books now (most of them autographed), and had the privilege to meet her near her home in the south of England at the end of 2023.This compendium has a lot of her stories and illustrations from over the years. You can see the change in her style of drawing over time, with Hans Millerman being one of the oldest. She is an avid gardener and brings a lot of nature and seasons into her books. Some of the stories are re-tellings of classic tales, and some are original. All are beautiful and will entertain you and your little ones for many-many hours.
