Patrick Taylor is a brilliant author. He brings the life and times of Ireland 1930's forward in a very funny and wonderfully warm manner. The characters become printed on your mind and with each book become firm friends. The troubles of the times are in the background only as they are missing in the village as the people work and live together. There is laughter history and beautifully written description of the people and the scenery. I may live on the other side of the world but I have visited Ireland and so would love to have done so during the period these stories are set in. In future visits I will be looking for the scenery and maybe just maybe might still find some special people just like the friends I've made through reading every book of this series.
