One of the original Emmy Award-winning syndicated series, Stories of the Century, was hailed as being among the best western series in the year 1954. The show was about a duo of detectives, Matt Clark (Jim Davis) and Frankie Adams (Mary Castle), who worked for the Southwestern Railroad. The detectives worked diligently to guard the train and the passengers from robbery, Indians and bandits. The episode ideas were taken from newspaper archives from the 1890s and included some of the most dangerous outlaws and infamous crimes of the Wild West. Notable desperados featured are Frank and Jesse James, Doc Holiday, Black Bart, Belle Starr and Billy The Kid.
