Best American Short Stories Collection - Classic & Contemporary Fiction Books for Reading, Book Clubs & Literature Lovers

This is a great book, with some classic stories (as well as some not-so-classic ones that are still pretty good) and elegant illustrations. However, I really question Amazon's "product details," which currently state "Age Range: 9-12 years, Grade Level: 4-7." This book has a 15-year-old girl being propositioned (but basically forced into sex) by a much older man, a child who commits suicide, a man who quite maliciously gouges the eyes out of a cat, etc. There may be some 9-year-olds who could handle this material, but there are certainly plenty of others who would be greatly disturbed. The "editorial review" from "School Library Journal" says "Gr 9 Up." If that means grades 9 and up, then I think that that would be much more appropriate than Amazon's advice.
