This was a gift for a five year old with the expectation that it would be read to her. Content is appropriate for that level and a bit higher. The quality of the paper, binding, and artwork was superior and I am delighted that a nice variety of the Madeline stories was included. Its a winner!Our daughter grew up with Madeleine books, and we purchased this one for her granddaughter! LOVE these books!High quality book. Great to have all Madeleine’s adventures in one volume. Extremely pleased with my purchase.Beautiful book however onemm by page had missing textThere's no better collection of stories, and it's wonderful to have them all together. This is a beautiful volume. I'd get it because, perhaps, such a collection might not always be available (I have no idea, but i think about those things sometime!).But do make sure the child is old enough to handle a hard-back with this kind of quality paper, binding. Or, get it and put it away until the child is ready.Re the stories, we use it also to emphasize the importance of understanding a Table of Contents, and for comparing the way these genius-stories are introduced, with basically the same text, but with variations in placement on the pages (story to story) and illustrations. So much pedagogical value, literary and artistic, and even geographical value is inherent in the Madeline stories. What a gift they are to us.This book is wonderful, and my granddaughter LOVES it. I am just sad they didn't write more!My daughter was gifted my adult sister's copy of this from 1995 and it was still in perfect condition, which led us to purchase our own copy for our goddaughter. The copy is sturdy and solid, will not wear. The stories are classic and the illustrations are beautiful. Madeline is bold, assertive, brave and honest. A timeless model for girls and boys alike.An adorable five gold star item and thank you !This is a beautiful book, I have bought my niece(4) it for Christmas and I hope she loves it. The illustrations are proper pieces of art, they are amazing and the stories are fun, I loved the cartoon adaptation as a kid and wished I had recieved this book when I was her age, hope she will treasure it.The stories were just as I remembered when my daughter read them. Now I have bought the book for my granddaughter and hope that she, too, will enjoy the rhyming stories and the quirky pictures.beautifully illustrated book with charming little stories.
