I loved this book! I don’t often read fantasy but because I loved Alexis Lantgen first book “Sapience” so much I thought I’d try it. Some of the stories are funny and some are heartbreaking but all are really great stories about what it means to be human. “Grackle” is about a girl whose ex-boyfriend uses magic to turn her into a bird. Her thoughts and feelings are all human while she tackles with the problem of learning to fly, finding food and shelter, and figuring out how to communicate with real birds. “There was a Nicholas Once” may be my favorite in the collection. It’s a story about human cruelty and a young girl’s sacrifice to save others from that cruelty. It’s a beautiful story. There is also a story about a vampire cat!I highly recommend "Saints and Curses” to anyone who loves a great story. The cover is great too-it perfectly captures the essence of the book.. The fact that it is a collection of “fantasy” stories belies the fact that it is just great story telling regardless of the genre. I
