This book written by Dr Ken Hillman is written in a very caring, empathetic and thought provoking manner and is the type of book that you can't wait to pick it up again and read another chapter. What is unique about the book, is that it mixes actual clinical cases with supporting information relating to pathophysiology which makes reading so much more interesting. This is not a textbook, biography or novel, but the author has managed to incorporate all of these into one book. The concept of a holistic approach comes across very clearly throughout Dr Hillman's writing, and he is certainly a clinician that works extremely well with patients families. I would certainly highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the care of highly dependant patients, but you don't need to be a clinician to enjoy reading this great resource, as you will not be disappointed.Michael.J.McGivern (Nursing tutor) New Zealand.
