Another wonderful addition to the growing universe of the Something Like series! Bell break's away from his previous format with this collection of short stories that explore characters who have not had their moment in the sun, as well as revisiting those that we've not heard from in far too long. The first story delves into Eric's past as well as giving new insight into his and Tim's complex relationship. This story could have been a book all its own and Bell does an excellent job of fleshing out both Eric and Marcello while leaving you wanting more. The next story returns us to Ben's perspective and is a lovely conclusion to the Ben/Jace love story that frankly was missing from the other books, as well as giving the reader Ben's perspective on a more mature Tim, as well as his foster child, Jason Grant. Next we have a long overdue glimpse into Allison's world. This is without question the most fun story in the collection and gives us readers the girls night out between Allison and Michelle we never knew we needed (but we did, we really did). The final story I will not spoil, but it focuses on a character we've not seen in quite some time, and is the cleverest story Bell has ever written, with an ingenious way of allowing four of our main characters to be in the same story for the first time. There's also a fun character profile section and easter eggs dropped all throughout that devoted Bell readers will enjoy. You will laugh, you will cry (every single story without fail made me cry, as is Bell's way) and you will love spending an afternoon with old friends. HIGHLY recommended, but please do NOT let this be your introduction to the Something Like series. It could not be enjoyed without having read the previous six entries in the series.
